Winter Break in the Northwest
Jack has been busy playing and asking a million questions/making observations. We went to Aunt Verna's 90th birthday party, spent Christmas Eve at Great Grandma Geeg's and Grandma Marie's, then Christmas Day at Uncle George's and at Great Grandma Geeg's.
Having a ridiculous time uploading photos on here...maybe later!

Milestone!
Jack knows his ABC's! He just sang the whole song, almost perfect! That's the first time...at the end, instead of "next time won't you sing with me" he says "see you next time"--- hopefully we will get a video!

Jack says the darndest things
Jack and Mom tend to be driving around a lot. When we are stuck behind a vehicle with smelly exhaust, he says that the car is "exhausting."

Jack says the darndest things
(Jack) Knock, Knock.
(Mama) Who's there?
(Jack) Jack, and Dada, and Mama!
Jack is not feeling well this Thanksgiving day. It started last night. He is feeling better though after a long nap. He really likes Egg Nog, which we call Pumpkin Milk otherwise he won't touch it.

Jack says the darndest things
The other day Mom said that she had a song "stuck in her head." Jack asked "where's it at?" and looked around on her head.
At just a few weeks in, Jack has been non-stop chatty at his new daycare. He constantly asks questions about anything and everything, and explains things too. We already had one incident where he hit another kid (4 yrs old) and gave him a bloody nose. It was probably over a toy, and both boys "play aggressively." Jack admitted to it the next morning on his own (the caretaker must not have thought it a big deal because she forgot to say anything about it the day it happened). He seemed to feel bad about what happened and said he cried when it happened too.
Then today she said he pushed the younger girl down. When I asked him about it, he said in a very matter-of-fact way that she tripped, fell, and hit her head and that he did not push her. His talking has really gone to the next level lately. It was very convincing too how he said it.

Wake Up Call!
Yesterday morning Mom and Dad were reluctant to get out of bed. Jack was of course up at his usual 6amish. We told him to go downstairs and one of us would be down soon. A bit later he came back up the stairs and said, "Mama, Dada I got coffee for you!" He handed us each an empty playdough cup.

1st day at new daycare (again)
Jack was at his very first daycare ever since he was a little (and we mean little) baby. He visited there last Friday which was so much fun. Most of his friends were still there. After Mom's job was relocated, we went to daycare #2. Due to lack of space (play-space) Jack started to have issues. He grew up in an environment with much more freedom (at his first daycare) so this was a struggle. There is much to be said for a backyard!
After about 2 months at daycare #2, we found daycare #3. Today was his first day there. It is slightly less far for us to drive there which is a perk. The biggest perk is the room-- it is a roomy house with a fenced in front and back yard. There is even a separate playroom with many toys, and toys to ride on a-plenty. Of course, Jack had a great day and did really well. There are two other kids around his age there and about once a week a baby.
He wore his big boy underpants all day and was great about using the potty. He IS officially potty-trained and makes it through the nights too now. Basically ever since he turned three he has been good to go.

Halloween Fun
Jack caught a cold Halloween weekend and we've had a few low on sleep days ever since. He went trick or treating for the first time Saturday, well- 'trunk-or-treating.' It was so fun! He said "trick or treat" and "thank-you" at first, then after awhile just held out his hand for candy.
Halloween night we passed out candy. We waited anxiously the doorbell to ring. Jack said he was waiting for his "kids." We ran out of candy and had lights out at 7:30.
Jack says his favorite color is blue. He is talking in complete (or nearly complete) sentences now. His go to phrase whenever he sees someone new is: "Hi, I got two cars."

Dance Machine/ Haunted Harvest 2011
Last night we went to "Haunted Harvest" at the Springs Preserve. We went on a hayride, went trick-or-treating, played some games and Jack danced, and danced, and danced!
He normally uses more diverse moves (like at home) but he had the white man jump perfected last night. In the first video he changes his jump tempo when the new song comes on. He also was the kid who was the most social- trying to make friends with others. He had to be pulled from the dance floor when it was getting late!
Big boy
Dad is not feeling well and asked Jack if he could make him feel better. Jack went and gave him a kiss. Then he said, "are you feeling better now?"
Last night we were talking about how is is getting bigger and bigger. He said, "I'm not getting smaller. I'm big. I'm not small anymore."
He IS getting bigger....but he is still in 18month old pants! He's a little too tall for them, but if the pants are any bigger they will fall off his bottom!

The latest
Dada and Mama have been upgraded to "Dad" and "Mom." Jack has been a bit afraid of the dark lately. He says there are "hands" under his bed. Sometimes there are hands under the back of the carseat when we are in the car. He seems to be convinced now that that is "silly" but still is concerned at night! Jack is enjoying looking at Halloween decorations. He really likes to go to Target these days to look at the decorations and of course the toy aisles.
He continues to be the boss at daycare and is the one that hears the world "no" the most there! Often when it is time to go home he is sweaty because he has been dancing up a storm with his friends.

Conversations with Jack
(At daycare today)
Jack was whipping around his blanket and the lady at daycare asked him to stop.
Jack said "no."
She said that you do not tell her "no."
He said, "I'm telling my Mama."
She said, "I'm telling your Mama too."
He said, "I'm telling Monica."

Tonight Jack successfully negotiated macaroni for dinner. The clincher was: "I have to have it in my mouth."

My Son
Tonight we were talking about how Jack is Mama's son. He said that Dada is not Mama's son. He said Dada is Grandpa's son! Amazing!

Jack says the darndest things
Today at daycare Jack hit one of his playmates. Instantly he said, "never mind, I'll put myself in time out" and proceeded to go to timeout.

Jack:
-Is the closest to being potty trained that he has ever been
-Talks a lot about poop, cars, poop, and cars
-Is interested in but also a little worried about spiders, robots and monsters
-Now says, "I have to tell you somping" to get you to stay in his room longer at bedtime, then quickly requests something or comes up with a story
-Seems to be getting used to his new daycare
-Is becoming a pickier eater, fast
-Will be three years old next month!!

My Yogi
Jack really seems to enjoy his new daycare. When we talk about going there, he get's excited. There is just one girl a bit older then him and a younger boy about 1 and a half. He has had time outs for some hitting (nothing new) but otherwise seems to be doing really well.
He also gets excited about doing yoga! He does not really have the attention span yet to do it for more than a few minutes at a time though. He can even do downward dog. :)

Jack says the darndest things
Today at his new daycare, Jack's caretaker asked him if his daddy was a teacher too. He said, "no, he's a boy." :)

1st day at new daycare
Today was Jack's first day at his new daycare. We had to find somewhere closer to after Mom got her job on this side of town. His new caretaker said that she this was the best first day ever with a new child. And she has been doing this for years and years. He listened and minded and was very sweet. He did get a little rowdy when Mom showed up but did show his affectionate side when he asked to give the lady's husband a kiss when he left for work! Jack seemed happy and good thing because we will be back tomorrow! He will be with the other kids Wednesday.

Big concerns for a little boy
Jack is going around the house with his play hammer and doing "hard work" as he calls it.
So the other week we had to take Wickett to the vet because he had an issue with his ear. I did not think anything of bringing Jack along to drop him off, just that it would be fun for him to see all of the other cats there (it is kind of a cat sanctuary too). When we had left Wickett behind for his surgery, Jack got concerned. In the car he was kind of choked up and asked, "He not going sleepy? He not sleepy. He coming back." It floored me to even begin to fathom how he had come up with that. And not to just come up with that, but to seem to have an understanding of that concept. These are not the things they normally teach on Curious George- so where did he get this? We talked and although still concerned, Jack was ok. Wickett is feeling much better too now. J is definitely a little thinker!

Conversations with Jack
"Can I go too?"
"I can't take you with me this time. I have to do my homework. But I'll bring you a treat."
"What treat you gonna get me? Macaroni?!"
"Not macaroni, something sweet."
"Not broccoli."
"No, not broccoli." :)

Painted Rainbows
Tonight we took Auntie Linda to the airport so she could return to WA. She had stayed with us for a few days and Jack was really sad when she left. In between the searing heat it had been a little rainy and we even saw lightening. We also saw a rainbow, a rare thing in Las Vegas. On the way home, Jack asked if the rainbow was artwork. He said that Mama painted it. :)

Summer in the NW
Jack had fun pointing out the cows and horses in the WA. Sometimes, though he would call horses cows or even another animal. We (Grandma Marie, Mama and Jack) went to a little ranch where you could pet the farm animals and even ride horses. He made the fact that he was a city boy very evident when he kept commenting on the dirt and that he was getting dirty. He constantly talked about the poop and how things were stinky like in the chicken coop. He made sure Mama did not step in the poop too. (Sometimes he is overly observant!) At one point he sat on a pony then, noting that he was a little dirty, asked to go home to take a bath. The photo above shows Jack riding a horse for the first time. It only took a few seconds before he was smiling. He rode really well, nice and balanced and relaxed. When he got off, he immediately wanted to ride again. We thought he would remember that a horse is a horse for sure after that. But in the car he called it a goat or a sheep or the like!
The cupcake photos are from Katie's Cupcakes in Fairhaven with Grandma Cathy and Great Grandma GG. The pink tutu pics are from Boulevard Park where Mama's friend happened to have a tutu for photo props! Do not tell Dada about these ones!

A Day Out With Thomas!

Taking a break
Dancing to the music!
On the trainride

Listening to some music
We have been having a lot of fun in the beautiful NW. Out of nearly 2 weeks, this is the first day that it has been mostly grey and rainy. We went to the parade for the 4th of July, family bbq and saw the local fireworks. Jacks sleeping schedule has changed a lot! He has definitely had some cranky and otherwise trying moments. But, it has been great quality time for mother and son...although we wish Dada could have stayed in town longer, but he had to go back to work. We went to the zoo (no photos) and saw THE Thomas the Train in Snoqualmie. That was a lot of fun, even for the adults! We went with Grandma Cici, and Great Grandma GG. Here are a few photos.
