Summertime!!!

It is finally summer and Jack can spend more quality time with the family.  The past two days he 'skipped' school and went to Mom's school.  He played while Mom finished putting classroom stuff away for over break.

Otherwise in this first week of summer, we have attended a birthday party with another to come soon, and have tried to do a little yoga at home but Jack finds most of the poses too difficult.  He does have his own yoga mat!  He likes the Rodney Yee videos even more than he likes the kid versions, funny.  We are also planning a trip to Zion again soon.  All this before we head to WA state in just a matter of time!!

Jack has been doing great in his new 'big kid' classroom.  He did a tracing lines/curves assignment that his teacher said he did very well at.  The kids that were just moved up from his class that did this assignment's work was all over the place.  Must be all of that drawing practice paying off!  He has been behaving well thus far.  He did have one incident where another boy hit his arm and then pushed him off the slide.  He was pretty upset by this- but it was a perfect opportunity to discuss how it feels to be on the receiving end!  He is attending school three days a week now.  He now goes pee standing up which he is hugely proud of.  Another thing that makes him seem so grown up is when he says "oh" after you tell him something.  He is getting more conversational when he talks and it's fun!  Now for breakfast he eats TWO waffles with 'salt' (actually cinnamon).  Big boy!

I'm a Big Kid now

Jack had his first graduation ceremony last week!  He was very excited to have Mom take photos of him with his best buds.  Good thing we did this- because now he is moving up to the big kids room....early.  He has had some behavior problems for some time now which seem to get better, then worse.  He once again has had a multitude of 'Sad Notes.'  Because of when his birthday falls, he is the oldest one in his class.  He seems to use this to his advantage.  Or maybe he would still be a bully if he was the youngest.  He was put in the office so many times that he knows everyone in the office and all the parents and kids that come and go.  So that has become his social hour instead of a punishment.  He was tested out in the big kids room yesterday and it went very well.  Today it went great, so we are officially moving him in there now instead of next year.  Our hope is that even when he gets really comfortable there, he will still be good.  He seems to like it there and was proud of being 'nice.'  Below are some photos from the little kids room/preschool graduation!
